How do I scan my whole startup disk?
Open disc/nsider and click Scan. Choose Macintosh HD (or any other mounted volume). The Mac App Store version is sandboxed, so macOS asks for folder access through the standard file picker. You only need to grant it once per folder.
Why can't disc/nsider uninstall my VPN client?
VPN apps and similar network utilities install privileged helper tools owned by root. A sandboxed Mac App Store app cannot move root-owned files to Trash. disc/nsider 1.2 now detects this, shows a clear Admin permission required notice and offers a Reveal in Finder button. Drag the listed files to Trash from Finder — macOS asks for your password and handles the elevation.
The scan feels slower on my MacBook Air than my Mac Studio.
Intentional. The scanner adapts to your Mac's thermal state and number of CPU cores. On fanless devices the concurrency is reduced so the app never causes sustained CPU/thermal stress — a strict App Store Review Guideline. Plugged-in, cool Macs see the highest throughput.
Does disc/nsider send any data over the network?
No. The app makes zero network connections. Your file paths, scan results and history never leave your Mac. See the privacy policy for the full breakdown.
What happens to scan history when I uninstall?
All data is stored in the app's sandboxed Application Support container. Deleting disc/nsider from Applications removes everything it ever wrote.
